Had to squeeze a quick one in this evening! My fave wallpaper FULL STOP! So much so, that I’m tempted to use it just like this in my bedroom. What do you think?!

The rattan light pendant works beautifully in this design. It helps to reinforce that botanical vibe because of its natural aesthetic and complements the use of wood elsewhere. Love it!

Anywhere that has a flat surface is your friend! I know that I produce and present my @sketchup_official floor plans and elevations digitally but don’t forget that these little nuggets of greatness look beautiful in hard copy too! Especially as watercolour illustrations 🙂

You don’t need to spend hours putting together a design board. Find a flat surface, grab a plant some books (for height), a few fabrics and a flower or two and hey presto, you’ve got yourself an effortless ‘design board’ ready to wow the pants of your client!

Don’t forget to take a few snaps for your website/blog content, social media marketing and newsletters!

After that earth shattering announcement from @duluxuk that the future is...BEIGE, let’s provide some comfort and normality by posting one of our floor plans!

This floor plan would be considered pretty high quality. It has been created using 2D and 3D geometry in @sketchup_official and has then been rendered in @photoshop where we applied shadows and highlights.

Fancy a cuppa?!

I love trying different ways to accessorise and decorate my home. Doing things a little bit differently than everyone else sets you apart and helps you personalise your space. It’s the same when you’re creating a design scheme for a client.

If your client has a love of plants and pattern, and loves quirky accessories; why not combine them in a totally unexpected way?! You won’t damage the mug or the plant as long as you keep it in the nursery pot!

Hope wherever you are that you’re having a nice Saturday!

Let’s celebrate the weekend with a QUEEN of a floor plan! We’ve opted for a beautiful Chevron wooden floor throughout the entire open plan living/kitchen, study and bathroom. This provides a nice little bit of consistency but we’ve also broken up the use of wood by adding marble tiles in the kitchen area and carpeting in the bedrooms. A huge dollop of pattern has been used on the balcony which helps to create a big design statement.

If you are a stickler for polished, professional and precise technical drawings, then this little commission I undertook yesterday is for you!

I had to produce this for an Interior Designer, who needed drawings created SUPER last minute. That's the thing with @sketchup_official - you can 100% create detailed, precise drawings at the last minute and they STILL look effortless and incredibly professional.

The same can't be said for hand drawing - last minute projects/changes can be very stressful when creating plans by hand. And a lot of skill is required to produce a set of drawings in both 2D and 3D. Guys, there's a reason SketchUp is an Interior Designer's best friend 💘 It's highly flexible and can produce 2D and/or 3D drawings very quickly.

This particular drawing details the proposals of a redesign for an Opticians display area. I was asked to produce a front elevation, to scale with the relevant dimensions and annotations. I was also asked to include 3D plans that showed where the lighting was going to be located and a perspective drawing to show that the display units were set back from pillars currently in situ.

You can still produce informative, professional plans and perspective drawings without needing to produce highly detailed renders. If you are working to a tight deadline, make SketchUp work for you by creating simple plans that can be produced quickly and are still very effective at communicating your designs to clients.
